MY JOURNEY
My journey to authentic leadership has been very personal, from emotional and spiritual blindness to fundamental self-awareness. I found out very quickly that my attitude and my perspective had me on a collision course with disaster. In my quest for personal and professional success, I was oblivious to all my blind spots. I was forced to take a good, long look in the mirror, and I didn't like that person staring back at me.
Through my new-found humility, I became very intentional about steering my life from that path of inevitable destruction. I learned to build trusting relationships, to take personal responsibility for my actions, and and to build safe avenues of communication for those I lead. The most powerful lesson I learned has been to be authentic continually and to let down my ego. I have been given the tools to stay the course, and I am on a lifelong journey. My desire now is to guide others along their own journey of to self-discovery. N

St. Louis, Missouri native, Dr. James A. Fielder is first and foremost a father, a son and a brother. The devoted family man served his country as a decorated marine for twelve years before pursuing education. After enjoying a successful, twenty-year career in information systems, he left the corporate world to heed his call to full-time ministry.
A self-professed life-long learner, James received his Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems & Organizational Leadership from Illinois State University. He went on to earn his Master of Arts in Religion, Master of Religious Education and Master of Divinity degrees from Liberty University. In 2017, he received his Doctor of Ministry degree from Northern Seminary with a focus on Christian Leadership Development.
With over two decades of experience, his passion for learning is only rivaled by his passion for teaching and coaching. He is currently certified by the Kaleidoscope Institute as a Building Bridges Facilitator, leading constructive, productive community conversations around race and diversity. He has earned multiple Board Certified Coaching (BCC) certificates for life coaching and is currently working towards his Professional Life Coach certification from the International Coaching Federation (ICF).
